Fire Assay Flux

In the precise world of precious metal analysis, especially for gold and silver, the fire assay method stands as an industry benchmark. The initial fusion stage, where the ore sample is prepared for metal collection, is paramount. Without a carefully balanced and effective Fire Assay Flux, samples can fail to melt completely, impurites may not be adequately removed, and valuable precious metals can be lost, compromising the accuracy and economic viability of the analysis.

DECENT Group’s Fire Assay Flux provides the foundational chemistry for exceptional results. Our pre-mixed, customizable blends are engineered to transform challenging ore samples into a homogeneous molten mass, effectively capturing precious metals while forming a clean, easily separable slag. Utilizing a precise combination of reagents, our flux ensures a lower melting point, superior collection of lead, and minimal precious metal loss. Trust DECENT’s flux for safe, efficient, and highly accurate precious metal recovery.

Equipment Construction

  • Litharge (Lead Oxide – PbO): Acts as a collector for precious metals, a powerful flux, a desulfurizer, and a solvent for metallic oxides.
  • Soda Ash (Sodium Carbonate – Na2CO3): A strong basic flux that helps desulfurize the sample and lowers the mixture’s melting point.
  • Borax (Sodium Borate): Reduces slag melting points and is an excellent solvent for metal oxides.
  • Silicon Dioxide (Silica – SiO2): An acidic reagent that combines with metal oxides to form stable silicates, protecting crucibles.
  • Reducing Agents (e.g., Flour, Charcoal): Reduces litharge to metallic lead, which collects precious metals.
  • Oxidizing Agents (e.g., Niter/Potassium Nitrate – KNO3): Oxidizes sulfides and other base metals, ensuring they enter the slag.
  • Silver Nitrate (Optional): Used in specific assays to control silver content or for inquartation.
  • Formulation: Precisely proportioned blend of high-purity chemicals.
