High-Altitude Fire Assay Lab Construction: A Full Review of Qinghai Project from Design Leadership to Zero-Based Empowerment
Can you imagine what a high-altitude fire assay lab constructionlooks like? The answer lies in the semi-automatic fire assay laboratory built by Qingdao Decent Group for the Qinghai mining area. In November 2025, the cold wind raged across the Qinghai mining area. A construction team of six professional engineers from Qingdao Decent Group traveled to the site, overcame environmental challenges, and worked hand in hand with the client’s team to successfully build an industry-standard industrial semi-automatic fire assay laboratory with professionalism and perseverance.
Due to the extremely cold geographical environment and the ground-up construction background, this Qinghai fire assay laboratory project has faced three core challenges since its launch:
- The extreme cold and high-altitude natural conditions pose stringent tests for the installation and commissioning of precision equipment;
- As a newly-built project, the on-site operators have almost no practical experience in the fire assay process;
- The on-site supporting facilities are incomplete, and the unheated prefabricated houses pose a great challenge to the team’s on-site construction endurance.
Under such circumstances, how to ensure the stable operation of precision equipment? How to enable operators with almost no exposure to the fire assay process to get started smoothly? How to fulfill the commitment of “commissioning upon delivery”?This is not only a test of the equipment, but also the ultimate test of the willpower and service depth of the Qingdao Decent Group team. This article will review the entire project implementation process and reveal how we built a high-standard productivity fortress in the frigid region, centering on high-altitude fire assay lab construction.
Designing the Blueprint from Scratch
A fire assay laboratory is a dedicated space for the quantitative analysis of gold, silver and platinum group metals in ores, concentrates, smelting intermediates or finished products based on the principles of high-temperature metallurgy. Building such a laboratory requires a comprehensive consideration of multiple factors including metallurgical chemical principles, high-temperature operation safety, precision weighing environment and dust removal and ventilation. It also has distinct industry characteristics:
- High-temperature operation: Core operations are carried out at nearly 1000 degrees Celsius;
- Complex chemicals: Involving various fluxes such as lead oxide, borax, sodium carbonate and saltpeter, as well as strong acids such as nitric acid and hydrochloric acid;
- High precision requirements: Although it is a traditional method, steps such as fusion and cupellation have high precision requirements;
- High labor intensity: The experimental process includes weighing, mixing, fusion, mold casting, cupellation, rolling, parting and other steps.
Upon receiving the Qinghai fire assay laboratory project, the Qingdao Decent Group team immediately carried out a full range of design and planning work based on the actual on-site space, covering space flow lines, dust removal and ventilation, equipment selection and placement, and operating procedures. We ensured that every detail meets the standard operation requirements while taking into account production efficiency and detection accuracy.
- How to place the fusion furnace and cupellation furnace to balance operational convenience and work safety?
- How to design the pipeline layout of the dust removal system to maximize the dust collection efficiency?
- How to arrange the operation tables, tool racks and supporting tools to form a smooth operation flow line?
In response to these core issues, the engineer team of Qingdao Decent Group held in-depth discussions with the client’s team and finally determined a laboratory layout plan that not only meets the process requirements but also adapts to novice operations. At the same time, according to the client’s production scale, the team matched a complete set of equipment details, including fire assay fusion furnaces, cupellation furnaces, dust removal systems with full set of pipeline design, and a complete range of fire assay tool series.

A clear and well-considered laboratory construction blueprint not only demonstrates the professional quality and industry accumulation of the Qingdao Decent Group team, but also lays a solid foundation for the subsequent equipment installation and commissioning and the efficient operation of the laboratory for high-altitude fire assay lab construction.
Upholding Responsibility and Dedication in Extreme Cold
If scheme design is the precipitation of wisdom and experience, then on-site implementation is a test of will and professionalism.
After all equipment was manufactured in the production plant, the project entered the critical on-site installation phase. Qingdao Decent Group set up a six-person engineer team and sent them to the Qinghai site. The team includes technical personnel in various fields such as electrical engineering, machinery, installation and high-altitude operations, making it a tough tackling team capable of overcoming hard challenges.
The on-site high-altitude fire assay lab construction cycle lasted for more than half a month. The team needed to complete the full installation and commissioning of two fire assay fusion furnaces, two cupellation furnaces, dust removal systems and supporting pipelines, as well as product training work in the high-altitude and frigid environment.
The accommodation conditions at the project site were extremely harsh. The engineers lived in unheated temporary prefabricated houses throughout the process, and the working environment was extremely cold. Faced with the tough on-site conditions, all team members rose to the challenge, stuck to their posts and carried out every operation in strict accordance with the installation specifications.
In view of the high precision requirements of fire assay equipment for installation, the team controlled the construction details at all levels to ensure the accurate connection of electrical circuits and the stable installation of equipment components. Especially in the aspects of air tightness inspection of dust removal pipelines and high-altitude operations, the team strictly implemented safety and quality standards, conducted repeated on-site commissioning and did not let go of any hidden dangers.

In the end, relying on excellent professional capabilities and firm execution will, the team successfully completed the installation and commissioning of all equipment, ensuring that the equipment reached the standard operating state, and made this semi-automatic fire assay laboratory successfully land in the extremely cold area of Qinghai for high-altitude fire assay lab construction.
Practicing the Customer-Oriented Concept with Services
After the semi-automatic fire assay laboratory was built, ensuring its smooth subsequent operation became the core task of the Qingdao Decent Group team. A major difficulty of this project is that this is a newly built laboratory, and the on-site operators have just been exposed to fire assay-related equipment and lack basic experience in equipment operation and daily maintenance.
How to enable operators to quickly master equipment use skills and promote the semi-automatic fire assay laboratory to be put into official operation as soon as possible has become the top priority.
To this end, the technical team of Qingdao Decent Group carried out a full range of systematic practical training. Abandoning complicated theoretical explanations, the training adopted the mode of hands-on teaching and one-on-one guidance. From basic operations such as furnace chamber preheating and cooling, to the operating specifications and work processes of the entire set of equipment, and then to daily maintenance points and simple troubleshooting methods, every detail was explained patiently and demonstrated repeatedly.
During the training, the technical team timely corrected the non-standard operations of the operators until each operator could proficiently and independently complete equipment operation, maintenance and other work. At the same time, centering on the delivered equipment, we established a product operation-oriented standard operating procedure (SOP) for the client, specifying each step and precaution of equipment operation, making the equipment operation more standardized and safe for high-altitude fire assay lab construction.
Qingdao Decent Group has always adhered to the service concept of “whole-cycle empowerment”: what we deliver to customers is never just hardware equipment, but a set of professional technical capabilities that can support continuous operation and independent production. Even if the customer starts from scratch, we can accompany them to take every step steadily and help their laboratory operate successfully!
